Green Champions

Supporting diagnostic laboratories to integrate environmental sustainability through
practical resources, shared best practice, and collaboration towards a Net Zero NHS.

LabMed Green Champions Group

A team of enthusiastic individuals who first came together in late 2022 in response to the clear need for diagnostic laboratories to support the move towards a Net Zero NHS.

The group’s vision is for environmental sustainability to be fully embedded into diagnostic laboratories. Achieving this requires sustained behavioural change alongside access to relevant information. A big part of the work is maintaining inspiration and motivation, so providing examples and tools for champions to enact change in their own organisations is central. The group also considers the environmental impact of all aspects of LabMed’s work, including the UKMedLab national meeting, bursaries, grants and awards, and its many regionally organised activities.

We are always keen to hear from colleagues about examples of good practice and suggestions for meaningful change.
