Our Members
Our membership is made up of clinical scientists and medical practitioners in the NHS, industry and academia from trainees starting their careers through to consultants and leading academics and influencers in healthcare.
We are reliant on the goodwill and hard work of our members who actively contribute to our activities including scientific briefings to media and government, organising scientific meetings, networking and professional representation.
Examples of how members contribute, both on and off committees, include:
- Becoming an accredited union representative and taking part in negotiations
- Organising or presenting at local and national scientific meetings
- Assisting in educational and training activities such as running training courses, supervising trainees and working with the NSHCS, AHCS and ACS in the accreditation of training centres and the production and running of assessments
- Producing content or helping edit one of our publications including LabMed News and the Annals of Clinical Biochemistry
- Joining or contributing to the work of the Scientific Committee and their various sub-groups in producing best practice guidelines, supporting research and running clinical audits
- Representing the Association on national and international bodies relating to science, accreditation, standards, education and training
