This course will run from 12pm, Monday 18 January to 12pm, Wednesday 20 January 2027.

Designed specifically for early-career scientific and medical colleagues in Clinical Biochemistry, both those in formal training programmes and those in the initial years post-registration. The LabMed Foundations of professional practice 2027 offers an essential grounding in specialist clinical topics and practical knowledge to support preparation for the FRCPath examinations and the first steps into autonomous clinical practice.

The main topics will explore the science and clinical practice behind metabolic medicine, endocrinology and mass spectrometry in this engaging programme. Topics range from inherited metabolic disorders and specialist endocrine investigations to nutrition, critical appraisal, point-of-care testing governance and expert-led clinical discussions, offering a practical insight into modern laboratory medicine.

This three-day residential course is led by experienced clinicians and scientists and delivered through a mix of lectures, case discussions, and interactive workshops. Delegates will explore areas of biochemistry and service delivery where exposure may be limited during routine training, helping build confidence in real-world scenarios.
