The ACB has partnered with Abbott to deliver an interactive webinar centring on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in the context of healthcare recruitment.

This session is facilitated by Mark Powell, Country Manager for Point of Care at Abbott and senior sponsor for the UK chapter of Abbott's Ethnic Employee Network.

We will be hearing from the following panel of speakers:

• Dilini Peiris - Senior Clinical Scientist, Clinical Biochemistry, University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust and ACB EDI Champion 
• Joe Teape - COO, University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust
• Rachel Wilmot - ACB EDI Champion, Consultant Clinical Biochemist (retired), Hull
• Jane Pritchard - ACB Chief Executive

The speakers in this webinar will cover their experience and vision for EDI action in laboratory medicine staffing, with topics including:

• Developing a culture of equality, respect and integrity within the workplace
• Providing effective and equitable training, education and development opportunities for all
• Fostering relationships with educational establishments to connect with students from all backgrounds
• Enabling staff to be themselves at work so that they can deliver the best possible patient care
• Participating in a Senior Leadership reciprocal mentoring scheme at UHS - an initiative provided within the Trust’s Inclusive Leadership Programme, which completed its third cycle in 2021. This was set up to improve the representation of groups with protected characteristics in middle management and senior leadership, and develop a culture that believes in continuous improvement when tackling inequalities
• The way in which the ACB is taking steps to integrate EDI throughout all of its activities, give equal opportunity, and improve diversity and inclusion within its membership and beyond.
