LabMed holds its 73rd Annual General Meeting
The Association for Laboratory Medicine held its 73rd Annual General Meeting on 10 June 2026 at the Eastside Rooms in Birmingham. A milestone this year was that it was the first AGM to incorporate the former Federation of Clinical Scientists into the LabMed AGM, reflecting the ongoing evolution of the organisation.
Annual Report adopted
Members received and adopted the Annual Report for the year ending 31 December 2025, presented by President Ian Godber, alongside the Association's accounts and balance sheet for the same period presented by Director of Finance Ben Nicholson.
New governing documents approved
In a positive step forward for the Association's governance, members passed a Special Resolution to adopt updated Articles of Association. The new documents, developed by a dedicated Task & Finish group drawn from Council and supported by specialist governance advisers, consolidate and modernise the Association's governing framework.
Officers elected and members recognised
A number of Officers were re-elected to their roles, and the meeting formally announced Kevin Deans as President-Elect, who will succeed Ian Godber as President from the adjournment of the 2027 AGM.
The meeting also celebrated two new Fellows of the Association — Peter Sharpe, nominated by the Northern Ireland committee, and Michael Murphy, nominated by the Scotland committee — in recognition of their significant contributions to the profession of laboratory medicine.
Thanks were extended to outgoing officers Mayur Patel, Alison Jones and Kath Hayden for their dedication and service to the Association over many years.
