Annals of Clinical Biochemistry welcomes new Co-Editors-in-Chief

LabMed is pleased to announce a change in editorial leadership at The Annals of Clinical Biochemistry, with David Gaze and Rav Sodi taking up the role of Co-Editors-in-Chief from September, following the end of Paul Hamilton and Phillip Monaghan tenure.

We would like to extend sincere thanks to Paul and Phillip for their dedication to the Annals over many years. Their contribution has left a lasting mark on the journal as they supported the tender process that led to the journal's new publishing contract with Sage and oversaw the Annals' transition to an online-only subscription model. They also helped with strengthening the journal’s editorial structure by leading the adoption of the new Associate Editor contract and creating a training session for how to get published for trainees which has since been converted into an online module for LabMed's Learning Academy, a resource that benefit early-career scientists. On top of this their regular work of processing manuscripts that has resulted in reduced time from submission to publication and attracting authors and papers that have resulted in an increase in the impact factor.

Taking the Annals forward, we welcome David Gaze and Rav Sodi as Co-Editors-in-Chief. Between them they bring editorial experience, strong scientific credentials and a shared commitment to laboratory medicine. We look forward to supporting them as they take the journal into its next chapter.

David Gaze is senior lecturer in chemical pathology at the University of Westminster and LabMed's director of scientific affairs. He brings five years' experience as Editor-in-Chief of Practical Laboratory Medicine and currently chairs the Annals' Clinical Science Reviews Committee. David's focus will be on strengthening the journal's position, ensuring it remains authoritative for established professionals and relevant to the next generation of laboratory medicine scientists.

Rav Sodi is a consultant clinical biochemist and head of department at Broomfield Hospital, and director of Publications & Communications for LabMed. With research interests spanning cancer screening, AI in medicine and innovative e-learning, Rav is keen to bring a fresh, innovation-led perspective to the journal, championing practical, patient-focused science and new ways of engaging the profession with research.

Speaking on his appointment, David said: "As a team I am sure we can build on this success to raise the profile even further and keep the Annals of Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine as one of the forefront journals in laboratory medicine."
