ACB members awarded at the UNIVANTS of Healthcare Excellence

The prestigious UNIVANTS of Healthcare Excellence Awards have announced the winners and we’re thrilled to announce that 3 out of the 13 teams are from the UK. Not only that, but ACB members are at the forefront of this award season, with each UK team including at least one member.

The UNIVANTS Awards seek to recognise elite teams that strategically mobilised insights from laboratory medicine into greater outcomes and overall patient care.

Firstly, congratulations to ACB member Leslie Perry from Croydon University Hospital, who, along with his colleagues Linda Cheyenne Vaccari, Ian Cormack, and Sarah Horne, formed one of the three top global winners at UNIVANTS 2021. Their initiative sustained 97% opt-out HIV testing in the emergency department, decreasing mortality from 32% to 0% over an 18-month period.

Secondly, congratulations to ACB members Neil Anderson, Lisa Berry and Dimitris Grammatopoulos from UHCW NHS Trust and Warwick Medical School, who, along with their colleagues Asad Ali and Harpal Randeva received a Recognition of Distinction at UNIVANTS 2021. Their initiative addressed Covid clinical and translational challenges via multidiscipline integrated diagnostic networks.

Last, but not least, congratulations to ACB members Kirsty Gordon and Ross Sadler from Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, who, along with their colleagues Kate Fenna, Noel Ryman, Francis Smith and Simon Whitehead, received a Recognition of Achievement at UNIVANTS 2021. Their initiative improved patient pathway for diagnosis, follow up and monitoring of Multiple Myeloma (MM), and involved multi-disciplinary collaboration to improve the pathway from the initial request to long-term monitoring.
