Translating NICE suspected sepsis procalcitonin update into practice - Recording
Recorded: 29 September 2026
NICE is updating its guidance on suspected sepsis, and procalcitonin (PCT) testing sits right at the centre of it. This webinar will walk through what the update means in practice.
We'll set out the two studies driving the conversation, PRONTO and ADAPT-Sepsis, and what each tells us about where PCT fits: fast risk stratification in the emergency department, and daily monitoring and stewardship on the ICU. Then we'll get into how you put this into practice when the guidance lands.
Why this matters now:
The update to the NICE guidance on suspected sepsis is in development now, and once published it will shape testing protocols across every laboratory that runs a sepsis pathway. Clinical scientists and clinicians will need to move from "here's the evidence" to "here's what we do" fast.
PCT adoption will touch turnaround times, cost, staff training and how confidently a clinician acts on a result. Getting ahead of the guidance, rather than reacting to it after publication, means labs can plan implementation properly.
LabMed Autumn CPD series
Our new lunch webinar series gives members a way to build CPD hours around tests and topics that matter for daily practice. Each webinar is sponsored by a LabMed corporate member and co-hosted by LabMed. Free to attend and open to all. More titles and dates to follow through autumn.
