Leadership and management challenges for consultant clinical scientists

Microbiology webinars for trainees are aimed at those in infection training at all levels. The webinars take place last Wednesday of the month from 4 - 5pm, March - November 2026.

Taking on a senior leadership or management role is daunting, particularly if you cannot see others with similar training and background to yourself in those roles around you, but you can learn a lot from watching how other colleagues deal with challenges.

Learning leadership and management theory from attending courses or workshops is a good start, but there is no substitute for having to deal with real-life issues arising. In this presentation Naomi Gadsby will talk about what she has learnt so far with the hope this might be useful for others starting out in clinical leadership and management.

Microbiology training webinar series

The Microbiology Professional Committee are pleased to announce a series of 1-hour webinars, aimed at those in infection training at all levels, running throughout 2026 on the LabMed Platform.

In response to feedback from members we are trialling a new format of training content delivery to replace the annual in-person Microbiology training day for this year.

Topics have been suggested through discussion with members in training and webinars will be delivered by senior clinical scientists and associated colleagues. There will also be an opportunity for trainees to participate directly in the final webinar of the year through presentation of recent audits.

We welcome your views on the new format and will be collecting feedback at each session.

We look forward to seeing you at the webinar series!
