We welcome our new President Ian Godber
Clinical scientist Ian Godber stepped into the role of President of the Association, at LabMedUK25 in Manchester on 11 June 2025, officially succeeding Kath Hayden. Ian, a consultant clinical scientist (lead clinician) at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, will bring an energising blend of experience and enthusiasm to the role.
Having been elected in August 2024, Ian was president‑elect in the lead‑up to his official start this month.
“I’m very excited to be taking over as President … Many thanks to Katharine Hayden for all the hard work … Along with the rest of LabMed council, executive, staff and the members I’m really looking forward to progressing the groundwork and initiatives already underway.”
Ian takes on the role at an exciting time for LabMed: as we are preparing to host EuroMedLab 2027 in London.
As Kath Hayden passes the torch, Ian emphasises inclusive engagement and forward momentum, pledging to build on the Association’s achievements and to bring fresh ideas to support clinical scientists across the UK. We look forward to an an inspiring and innovative presidency.
