The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted healthcare within the UK with hospital waiting lists and cancer backlogs at very high levels, against a backdrop of bed shortages, high staff vacancies, and ongoing pandemic pressures including the need to continue restrictions aimed at minimising virus spread.
Laboratory Medicine plays a vital role in the majority of healthcare decisions. Appropriate use of lab services is therefore even more important given the healthcare challenges currently faced.
Build Back with Labs (BBwL) is a series of shared resources and workstreams aligned to assist healthcare recovery for both laboratory services and direct patient care. The available resources will be constantly reviewed and updated and will build up over time as more submissions and workstreams, involving wider groups of stakeholders, develop.
