Whole Genome Sequencing and Infection Course
To register for this course on these specific dates, you have to have been invited following a selection process. The ACB and GLA invite delegates based on the Whole Genome Sequencing and Infection expression of interest form. We are still accepting new expressions of interest.
A new course launched for Health Education England (HEE) on the clinical interpretation and implementation of microbiological whole genome sequencing techniques. This is delivered by the Association for Clinical Biochemistry & Laboratory Medicine (ACB) in partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital Learning Academy (GLA).
This course addresses the question: How does Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS), other molecular technologies and the management of generated data impact on patient pathways and outcomes in the management of infectious diseases?
The daily focus of the programme will be:
- Monday 17 April - Scene setting and current uses across healthcare settings
- Tuesday 18 April - Fundamentals of technique, sample selection, workflow & infrastructure
- Wednesday 19 April - Clinical implementation and management
- Thursday 20 April - How to implement within your setting
- Friday 21 April - Where is the technology going & what will the future be

A £50 deposit will be required on registration which will be refunded in full once you have attended the course.
