LabMedUK26 speaker biography

Guidelines for writing your speaker biography (max. 200 words)

Your biography should introduce you to the audience and highlight why you are a speaker on your topic. Keep it professional, concise, and written in the third person (e.g. “She is…” not “I am…”).

Structure and content:

  1. Opening line: Include your full name, current job title, and organisation.
Example: “Jane Smith is a Consultant Clinical Biochemist at City Hospital.”
  2. Professional background: Summarise your key qualifications, experience, or specialist areas relevant to the event theme.
  3. Expertise and achievements: Highlight notable projects, leadership roles, publications, or awards.
  4. Current focus: Mention what you are currently working on, researching, or leading within your field.

Tone and style:

  • Be factual, clear, and engaging — avoid jargon or lengthy career histories.
  • Use full sentences rather than bullet points.
  • Keep to 150–200 words.

Example closing line:
“Her current research focuses on improving diagnostic pathways for rare metabolic diseases.”
