President Elect

The Association for Laboratory Medicine (LabMed) is inviting applications for President Elect.

LabMed UK's 2025-2029 strategy aims to advance laboratory medicine through digital readiness, strengthened standards and guidance, raising visibility and leadership, and developing a thriving workforce to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.

LabMed continues to grow in reach, reputation and membership. Alongside our strong foundations in clinical biochemistry, we are expanding our influence across microbiology and immunology, strengthening our voice across the full breadth of laboratory medicine.

As President Elect, you'll also play a key role in preparing for EuroMedLab in London – a prestigious opportunity to showcase UK laboratory medicine on the international stage.

The role

The President Elect is part of a four-year presidential term (one year as President Elect, two as President, and one as Past President) and plays a key role in leading the Association’s strategy, governance and external profile. Working closely with Council, the Executive Board and the staff team, you will help guide LabMed’s scientific direction, support its members, and champion the advancement of laboratory medicine.

We are looking for a leader who can think strategically, build strong relationships, and inspire confidence across a diverse and evolving professional community.

Who should apply?

We welcome applications from any active member of LabMed who meets the competencies outlined in the role description. You do not need to have held previous elected office within the Association but need to have been a member of the Association for at least three years.

What matters is your ability to lead with clarity and purpose, to work collaboratively, and to bring vision and energy to the role.

We are particularly keen to hear from members who are motivated by:

  • Developing current and future leaders in laboratory medicine
  • Strengthening digital capability, standards and guidance
  • Supporting and growing the workforce across disciplines
  • Expanding LabMed’s national and international influence

LabMed is committed to inclusivity and welcomes applications from across all backgrounds, disciplines and career paths.

The President Elect is selected through an open and transparent process.

Applicants are asked to submit:

  • A full CV
  • A statement of up to 500 words outlining your experience, skills and values, and how these would contribute to leading the Association and delivering its strategy
