EFLM Committee “Laboratory Error Database”
The EFLM calls for the nominations to cover some vacancies in the new Committee “Laboratory Error Database” (C-LED) led by Hikmet Can Çubukçu (Türkiye) and located under the EFLM Division “Science: Value-based Laboratory Medicine” chaired by Michel Langlois (Belgium).
They are calling for nominations for:
- 3 Full Members
- 1 Young Scientist Member (to be less than 40y of age as of 1 January 2026*)
The first term of office will start soon after the appointment and will end on 31 December 2027 with the potential extensions for two more terms (of two years’ duration each) beyond 2027 (*please note that renewal of Young Scientist position is possible only if within the age limit definition).
The work of the Committee is mainly conducted by e-mail and teleconferencing.
Additionally, the Committee usually meets once or two times per year.
Below are the Terms of Reference of the C-LED:
- Develop and maintain an evidence-based, publicly accessible Laboratory Error Database under EFLM governance, covering the factors affecting test results and their potential impact (severity of harm) on patient care.
- Continuously monitor the literature and other relevant information sources to keep up-to-date laboratory error database.
- Collaborate with national and international societies and federations, IVD manufacturers, external quality-assessment providers, and laboratory professionals to supply error data and incident reports.
- Foster research and disseminate best practices for studying and preventing laboratory errors.

Nomination form

Nominations must be electronically submitted to the EFLM Office ([email protected]) within the deadline of 30 September 2025. Any LabMed recommendation or support must be requested at least 2 weeks in advance of deadline.
