Join the SW&W regional committee

We’re looking for members to join the SW&W regional committee, with several vacancies now open.

These roles are open to all members in the region, from STPs to consultants. Whether you are looking to build your network, develop new skills or play a more active part in LabMed, this is a great way to get involved.

Regional committees play an important role in supporting members locally. In SW&W, that includes supporting members in training, contributing to workforce planning and FCS issues, organising scientific meetings, awarding the regional bursary, and sharing information between the region and LabMed’s national committees.

What you’ll do

As part of the committee, you’ll help shape activity across the region and make sure members’ views are represented. Depending on the role, you may support the running of meetings, improve regional communications, contribute to sustainability work, or help strengthen equality, diversity and inclusion in the committee’s work.

You’ll also have the chance to share regional issues and updates with LabMed nationally, and help bring useful information back to members in SW&W.

What you’ll bring

You do not need to be at a particular career stage to apply. We welcome applications from anyone with an interest in supporting the region and contributing to the committee’s work.

We’re looking for people who are keen to get involved, work collaboratively and bring ideas to the table. Some roles may particularly suit people who enjoy organising, communicating or helping connect people and ideas.

What you’ll get

Joining the regional committee is a great way to expand your network, exchange ideas and learn from colleagues across the profession. It offers valuable insight into activity across LabMed, as well as opportunities for continuing professional development.

These roles can also help you build skills in organisation, communication and committee working, and may be a useful stepping stone if you are interested in getting involved in national committees in future.

Most importantly, it’s a chance to make a real contribution to your region and help shape the support and opportunities available to local members.

Available roles

Chair
As Chair, you’ll be more than a committee leader — you’ll be a voice for the region, a Director of LabMed, and a vital part of our national Council, helping influence the direction of the profession.
