Biochemistry Training Day
At every stage of your training, you will be expected to contribute to the effective management of your lab. There are a number of management challenges that you will be faced with throughout your career – some more common than others. We will explore several of these, in groups, to benefit from everyone’s insight and experience, and present an action plan of how you would tackle each of these in turn. We aim to provide a foundation of knowledge for how you will tackle other challenges going forward.
I have worked as a clinical scientist at the Norfolk and Norwich since 2006. I am the lab lead in Norfolk for antenatal trisomy screening, the deputy director of the SAAS for Calcium and Bone Metabolism Markers, and the clinical lead for both our specialist endocrine lab, and our spoke lab at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King’s Lynn. I am the Regional Tutor for the ACB in the East of England and currently train both STP and HSST trainees. I have been committed, throughout my career, to expanding my own knowledge on leadership and management, both theoretical and practical. I am always keen to explore solutions to common, and less common, scenarios, to benefit from others perspectives and experience.
