Eosinophilic esophagitis is a disease that impacts patient’s life. The gold standard for diagnosis and monitoring is endoscopy of the upper intestinal tract with histological examination of biopsy material obtained during this procedure. To avoid recurrent endoscopies biomarkers are the great wish of clinicians.

Eosinophil derived neurotoxin (EDN) is a promising marker, but if measured in blood, it does not reach sensitivity and specificity of the endoscopy (EREFS) and histology (EoEHSS).

Here we present first study data of a new approach combining a coiled esophageal string test (CEST) with the measurement of EDN in esophageal fluid to diagnose and monitor EoE.
